卡森翻译的萨福《If Not, Winter》是在我的阅读计划里的，偶然发现了哈佛比较文学教授田晓菲老师的萨福翻译和论著《萨福：一个欧美文学传统的生成》，于是对比阅读，摘录一些喜欢的萨福诗句。
关于萨福
田老师提到萨福在不同时代有不同象征（同性恋、学识渊博、甚至“颓废”），或许就像孔子之于中国，是打倒孔家店还是独尊儒术取决于时代。
正因为它在眼下是时髦的，和具有“政治正确性”的，不一定是唯一的，也不应该是唯一的。
但是，当我们意识到了这一点，萨福离我们更远了。
关于萨福诗作，卡森的Eros the Bittersweet属于必读书籍，分析了Eros的许多方面。田老师著作里也引用了不少。
法翁的过去认为的萨福的意中人。后来认为也可能是阿多尼斯或者阿弗洛狄忒。
爱欲之神阿弗洛狄忒的名字的意思是“生于泡沫”。
萨福生前写了十万行诗歌，现在存诗中，仅一篇（1号）是完整的。31号是另外一篇著名的保存比较完好的。最后的几十篇仅有一个词。
周作人曾经在《蔷薇颊的故事》里介绍过萨福。新月派诗人朱湘也翻译过。
萨福诗中常常提到“紫色衣褶(Purple Cloak)”
